  1. Some great and thought-filled ideas here, Mysti!
I especially appreciated the “buddy-system” idea. Going to a conference, I rarely sit in the hotel the whole time, so I don’t attend certain conferences if I’d be travelling alone.
    Thanks for your thoughts!

  2. Thank you for this thoughtful and useful discussion of responses to challenges we’re all facing. I like the idea of a “buddy” system, and the donations to human rights groups, etc., is also spot on. We need more of this kind of creative approach to what’s happening in our country.

  3. Thank you, Mysti, for your suggestions. I have shied away from some conferences in more conservative states. The rights of women and the freedom of speech issues concern me. I’ve joined organizations that promote civil discussions between both sides of the aisle, Braver Angels and Equitable Dinners are two I support in Georgia.

  4. Wow, Mysti! This article is thoughtful, timely, and … well … just perfect. Your idea of giving to organizations that fight for equal justice for all while visiting a red state is a great idea. And thank you for listing a few places in which to start the donations off. The world is in a lot of trouble right now, with global warming and human rights cooling. Your suggestions can make a difference. Thank you.
